To ensure that your Node is connected to the Gateway, you can conduct a site survey.
Table of contents
Setup
Before starting a site survey, you need to know the code of the Node you want to perform the survey on. This code is shown on the front of the Nodes. Under the circular plastic panel, there are two dials. The arrows on the dials point to the characters that make up the code. Ex. 07.
Conducting a Site Survey
- On the DXM, use the arrow buttons to select the ISM Radio menu and press ENTER.
- Select the Site Survey menu and press ENTER.
- Use the up or down arrows to select the device ID number
- Press ENTER to run the site survey with that radio. The site survey results display as green, yellow, red, and missed packets. Green indicates the highest signal strength, then yellow, and red. Missed packets were not received.
- When you are finished running the Site Survey, press Back twice to return to the main menu and exit the site survey mode.
Interpreting the Results
LiveTracking requires a minimum of 30 Yellow (or Green) in order to function properly.
If the site survey fails (100 missed packets), verify the radios are at least 10 feet from the DXM and/or rerun the binding procedure.
If you find poor signal quality, move the DXM to a more central location relative to the Nodes or use higher-gain antennas on the DXM.
